Dr. Taylor Peyton

Leadership Professor, Boston University/ Principal of Valencore

Dr. Taylor Peyton teaches leadership as an Leadership Professor at Boston University. She is also Principal of Valencore, a leadership development and research consulting firm based in Southern California. Taylor has 14 years of collaborative research experience within business and academic settings, where she has presented over 40 research studies to academic conferences and general audiences. Taylor’s interests include psychology and organizational behavior, and she has a strong background in applied statistics, survey design, test construction, and research methods. Taylor holds a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego, an M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from San Diego State University, and a B.S. in Psychology from Long Beach State University.

Her peer-reviewed articles and active research agenda cover the following topics: leadership, authenticity, work passion, power use in organizations, employee affect, and emotional labor. Taylor’s dissertation work at the University of San Diego developed framework and psychometric assessment for authenticity in leaders. She is currently writing a book on authenticity with Dr. Drea Zigarmi, best-selling author and one of the original founders of the Ken Blanchard Companies. Taylor has presented applied research and created technical research reports for groups such as the Ken Blanchard Companies, the University of San Diego’s Nonprofit Governance Symposium, Alliant University, Sempra Energy, and Sycuan Resort & Casinos.

She has facilitated developmental workshops for CEO peer groups for Vistage International, and for members of other groups including Great Leaders in Stockholm, Startup Week in San Diego, Impact Without Borders, Startup Leadership Program in San Diego, the Commercial Real Estate Women Network, and Pappalecco coffee shops. Over the last 12 years, Taylor has taught several undergraduate and graduate level classes for The University of San Diego and San Diego State University.

Taylor is an active member of professional organizations that promote the study of employees and organizational life, such as: International Leadership Association (ILA); Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology (SIOP); American Psychological Association (APA); Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD); and International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE).
